Playoff roster and other races

Those trips to Baltimore are draining, 8:02pm here, and I just woke up a half hour ago, after not falling asleep till around 9am this morning. I'm thinking the playoff roster looks like this:

1b - Giambi, Mientkiewicz
2b - Cano
ss - Jeter
3b - Arod
C - Posada, Molina
Rf - Abreu
Cf - Melky
Lf - Damon
Dh - Matsui
Bench: Betemit, Duncan

Pitchers:
Wang, Petitte, Clemens, Moose, Hughes

Bullpen:
Kennedy, Farnsworth, Vizcaino, Villone, Joba, Mariano

It wouldn't hurt to throw in Ohlendorf, but knowing Torre, he wants veterans over the rookies usually, which is why Farnsworth stays in over him. Kennedy might be iffy too since he is getting married this week, so maybe Ohlendorf takes his spot.

Veras is too shaky in my opinion, even though he saved Saturday's game. Sean Henn and Chase Wright the same. Chris Britton is still a bit of an unknown, and Kei Igawa is too unpredictable, and stinks after about 4-5 innings. Almost forgot Bruney, but he has been getting hit harder than a punching bag this past month. He never throws strikes at the right time. Depending on how Torre uses the starters, Moose and Hughes may come out of the bullpen anyway, and I'd take them over most of the other other guys. It might not be a terrible idea to let Moose start game 3 instead, and have Roger throw for the bullpen, since he is a bit more overpowering than Mussina.

Other playoff hunts: I've been following all the other races, and I'm very excited to see what will come of the Rockies - Padres one day playoff. Feel good for the Cubbies, though I feel bad for the Brewer team that played great for a while this year. I watch the Phillies a lot in the summer when I'm down on the Jersey shore, so I was hoping for them to get in as the Wild Card, not as the NL east champs, which I really thought was in the bag for the Mets. I'm not a Met hater, especially with Willie over there managing, so for them not to get in is disappointing to me. John woke me up for 2 seconds in the afternoon to see if I was watching their collapse, but I was still out cold. Oh well, have to go check and see when our playoff tickets are, and maybe blog about that later. See ya.
