Rick Reilly at ESPN

Was jsut reading the baseball news for the day over on ESPN.com, when I found out that Rick Reilly has taken up residence there after years and years of gracing us with The Life Of Reilly at SI. He had written a piece on what players would like to take from the Stadium:

I ended up sending him a comment about how much I had enjoyed his past columns over the years, and had written an actually decent piece (I thought) about what I would take from the Stadium myself. I had copied it to paste here, but I lost it like a computer illiterate. It went something like this:

...In response to your article about what things to take from the Stadium, I already have. 3 years of memories of Sundays sitting in Section 23 Tier Reserve with the same fans. Taking 3 of my little cousins to their first baseball game and seeing our first triple play that day. Cheering for Roger Clemens in his last regular season start the first time he retired, as well as when he announced his return to the Yankees. A-Rod's 500th homer. The hot Red Sox fan who never figured out that we weren't trying to read the front of her shirt over and over again because we kept forgetting what it said. The lady who decided going commando and sitting in the right field nosebleeds was a good idea. Sitting in the bleachers back in the 80's and seeing a little kid get his Blue Jays cap burned before his eyes. Getting standing ovations and cheers for being the "Hip Hip" guy in right field. Getting Jeter and O'Neill to look up at me because I was so loud. Getting my boyhood idol, Don Mattingly to wave at me from the dugout when I called across the field to him. I remember telling my friend John that I would never wash the hand I just waved to Donnie Baseball with again. And those are just memories of games I have actually been to. There are so many more from the thousands of games I have watched on TV as well. So while the team may be moving across the street, my memories as a Yankee fan will always be on the other side. Just wondering if anyone who ends up reading this has any great recollections of times theyve been at the Stadium?
